Six alleged members of a criminal group have fronted Adelaide Magistrates Court and charged with breaching the state’s anti-crime gang laws, with one pleading guilty on Wednesday.

The men are facing charges of being present with two or more criminal organisation participants.

The accused are:

Jed William Carlyle, 28, of Seaford;

Nathan Brook Englander, 35, of Aldinga Beach;

Chace Houston, 24, of Murray Bridge;

Karl Rerich, 34, of Wynn Vale;

Cameron Zadow, 24, of Murray Bridge; and

Michael Andrew Resetar, 35, of Murray Bridge.

Mr Houston, who allegedly committed the offence last December, pleaded guilty to the charge.

Magistrate Justin Wickens noted the plea and adjourned the matter to January, adding there was a breach of bond to be finalised.

Mr Houston’s co-accused are expected to return to court in December.

Prosecution told the court that CCTV has been disclosed.

South Australian legislation prohibits three or more members of a declared criminal organisation from being present in a public place, with a penalty of up to three years’ imprisonment.

In a separate matter heard by the court earlier on Wednesday, Mr Carlyle pleaded guilty to possessing equipment used in connection with smoking a controlled drug other than cannabis.

The court heard that in March police attended his mother’s address, where he rents a caravan from her.

When police searched the caravan, they found an ice pipe and issued Mr Carlyle with a drug diversion order.

Counsel for Mr Carlyle said his client “wasn’t at his best in terms of mental health” and forgot to attend the appointment.

He said his client admitted to the possession of the item found in his caravan but said it belonged to someone else and that he did not use amphetamines.

He added that Mr Carlyle was currently unemployed, having had to stop work due to his mental health.

Magistrate Justin Wickens recorded conviction but “no further penalty”.

“And I’ll order forfeiture of the ice pipe,” he said.
