Jakob Bogert hopes to one day work on ships at the Australian Submarine Corporation at Osborne.

The 17-year-old from Le Fevre High School, which has a specialist maritime STEM program, will be a step closer to his dream on Monday when he receives his final year 12 results.

He is among 15,967 students sitting at their computer refreshing the web page to access their results as early as possible.

This year SACE records have been smashed, with the most students completing the certificate since the qualification was introduced.

This includes 10 per cent more Aboriginal students sitting their exams than last year and 6270 students completing VET.

There were 3913 regional students who completed SACE and 1182 students who achieved 1427 Merits.

Jakob is hoping for an ATAR of at least 80 after he completed difficult subjects including naval engineering and specialist mathematics.

But he already knows he will be moving to Tasmania next year after receiving an offer from the Australian Maritime College.

“I’m not stressed because I’d like good results but it doesn’t affect me,” Jakob said.

“It’s definitely exciting but a bit nerve-racking because now I’m an adult.”

Imogen Smith will receive confirmation of her SACE completion on Monday and hopes to follow in the footsteps of her grandfather, an electrician for more than 60 years.

“My pa did it so I grew up with it and I wanted to do a hands on job,” Imogen, 18, said.

Imogen is two years into an electrical apprenticeship through the Marcellin Technical College campus of Cardijn College, which she undertakes while completing her schooling.

“All my mates are getting ATARs and they’re stressed but I’m looking forward to being qualified and having a trade that will take me anywhere around Australia,” she said.

Lachie Martin, 18, is inspired by his teachers at Woodcroft College and hopes to study education at Flinders University next year.

“I’m a little bit nervous to see how I go but I know I tried my best,” he said.

The graduate is hoping for a 70 or higher ATAR and has already started teaching younger students at his school.

“Teaching younger students and seeing them have fun makes me happy,” Lachie said.

Education Minister Blair Boyer congratulated all the students receiving their results.

“I share your excitement and hope that you feel proud of what you have accomplished,” Mr Boyer said.

“These are our future leaders, engineers, health professionals … and as they get ready to embark on their next chapter – whatever that might be – we wish all our students every success for the future.”

SACE Board chief executive Michaela Bensley said students receive a “modern, robust and flexible qualification” in their certificate.

“They should feel confident taking the next steps into study, training and employment,” Ms Bensley said.

South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre chief executive Stuart Mossman reminded school-leavers “they have multiple admission pathways into tertiary courses”.
