Paralowie couple to face court over spate of drug busts across Northern suburbs

A couple will face court over several drug offences after detectives searched a northern suburbs homes with police later connecting the couple to three cannabis grow houses.

A northern suburbs couple are facing serious charges after police seized a huge stash of drugs and cash, with police later connecting the couple to other cannabis grow houses.

Northern District CIB searched a Paralowie home and found 40 kilograms of dried cannabis and $12,000 on Tuesday.

Following the search, a 35-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman both from Paralowie, were arrested and charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of cannabis, possessing prescribed equipment and money laundering.

The couple were also hit with further charges over an alleged role in three cannabis ‘grow houses’, previously found at Parafield Gardens, Smithfield Plains and Elizabeth Downs.

The man was charged with cultivating cannabis at a Parafield Gardens address in February, after police found 65 cannabis plants growing hydroponically.

He was also charged with cultivating cannabis over 165 cannabis plants – growing hydroponically – found at a Smithfield Plains address, in April.

The woman was also charged with cultivating and trafficking cannabis, after 107 cannabis plants – also hydroponically grown – were found alongside 25 kgs of dried cannabis, at a Elizabeth Downs address, in January.

They were both refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

A Mercedes Benz was also seized by police under the Criminal Assets Confiscation Act.
