Bushfire threat reduced for Peterborough in Flinders Ranges

An uncontrolled grass fire came dangerously near to a small town in the Flinders Ranges on Thursday, the CFS says.

The CFS has reduced its urgent bushfire warning to residents in Peterborough in the Flinders Rangers to Advice level.

The CFS issued a Watch and Act warning just after 10am on Thursday for a grass fire burning in a north-westerly direction towards the Peterborough township.

Just beffore 11am, the threat level was reduced to Advice:

“The threat of this fire has reduced, however people are reminded to take care in the area. Smoke will reduce visibility on the roads and there is a risk of falling trees and branches.”

The CFS previously warned residents on the eastern side of the town to leave and seek shelter.
