A young golfer’s practice session turned into a chance meeting with one of the game’s greats on Saturday.
Eight-year-old Oscar Wang was at The Grange Golf Club when he saw American golf star and three PGA tour winner Anthony Kim out on the green.
Oscar was overjoyed to meet the former world number 6 who also happens to be one of his favourite players.
“I was happy and excited,” he said.
“We saw Anthony putting on the putting green and asked him for a photo.”
He then joined Kim, who also happens to be his favourite player, for a few hits.
“I had a great time with professional golfer Anthony Kim,” he wrote on Facebook.
“He encouraged me to play better golf.”
Oscar, who is from Walkerville, will also be attending the LIV Golf 2024 Tournament this weekend and made sure to wish his idol good luck for the big event.
One day Oscar hopes to follow in Kim’s footsteps and become a professional golfer.
Since he picked up his first club two years ago, Oscar has played in many tournaments, winning the 6-7yrs division at the SA TeeMates 9 holes series last July.
Over the weekend, Kim was also spotted at Rundle Mall, sharing snaps of himself with wife Kim and two-year-old daughter Isabella there with his 52.6k followers on Instagram.
Earlier this year, the 38-year-old made his return to the professional circuit with LIV Golf as a wildcard after disappearing for 12 years following a series of injuries.
Dubbed a prodigy early in his career, Kim became the first American under 25 to win on the PGA Tour twice in a season in 2008 since golf legend Tiger Woods before going on to finish third in the 2010 Masters.
Since retuning Kim has also been open about his struggles with addiction, scam artists and recovering from multiple surgeries.
LIV Golf returns to Adelaide from Friday to Sunday at the Grange Golf Club for its second year.
