Nothing was stopping baby Kamila Violet Yen Nguyen from entering the world on Christmas Day this year.
At 12.03am the three kilogram baby girl came earth side a week and a half earlier than expected to thrilled parents Serena Huynh and Binh Nguyen.
“I’m happy she’s out … I’m pretty happy she’s a Christmas baby,” mum Ms Huynh said.
Kamila joins siblings, five-year-old brother Kody and four-year-old sister Kadie for Christmas this year with Ms Huynh saying her arrival is the ultimate Christmas present.
“My other two kids are very excited to visit her,” the 36-year-old mum said.
At Ms Huynh’s 37-week check-up, she said she began to feel signs of labour with doctors telling her she was three centimetres dilated.
She continued the pregnancy until she was 38.5 weeks but the feeling continued.
“I had the same feeling again — the labour feeling — and I just knew, this is the day I need to get her out,” the Lightsview mum-of-three said.
Ms Huynh arrived at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital on Christmas Eve to be induced.
“There was a whole debate among the midwives about whether she’d be a Christmas Eve baby or a Christmas baby,” Ms Huynh said.
“She took just over three hours to come out.”
Ms Huynh and Mr Nguyen, who have been married for six years, said baby Kamila completes their family.
“This is it for me … I’m so happy she’s out,” Ms Huynh said.
