Official planning approval has been granted for a new TreeClimb adventure park in the northern suburbs after it received overwhelmingly positive responses from the local community.
The new location – the third for the company and first one to be built in Adelaide’s north – will take root in Harry Bowey Reserve along the Little Para River in the heart of Salisbury Park.
TreeClimb spokesman Carmine Gallarello said the approval granted during Tuesday evening’s Council Assessment Panel was a “big step” and the team were excited to bring the adventure to the north.
“The design of the Salisbury course will be unique to our other sites, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone into the trees,” Mr Gallarello said.
“We would like to acknowledge the support from the community and Council … We are eager to create something the entire community can be proud of and use.”
The community consultation process hosted by the Salisbury Council received more than 1000 responses, with 93 per cent in support of the development.
The tree and high ropes course’s design is still under development, and TreeClimb is expecting to work “closely” with council during the $1m project’s detailed design stage.
Salisbury Mayor Gillian Aldridge said the council was excited to welcome TreeClimb and encouraged community members to continue to embrace the “unique outdoor experience”.
“It’s an exciting time in the City of Salisbury,” Ms Aldridge said.
“This year is already looking full of brilliant new developments, and I’m thrilled we can add TreeClimb to the list.”
TreeClimb opened its second location in Kuipto in 2022, which offers more challenging obstacles than the original CBD site in the South Parklands, with higher platforms and longer ziplines.
