Note: A previous version of this article incorrectly said the court heard Mr Smith and Mr Horlor were allegedly in negotiations with “persons known to police” in discussing the sale of 250kg of meth. The correct amount is 250g.

A northern suburbs man accused of taking part in a drug trafficking operation has walked free after prosecution dropped all charges against him.

One of his former co-accused, meanwhile, pleaded not guilty to three drug trafficking charges.

Grant Robert McDougall, 54, and Scott Michael Kristian Smith, 39, appeared alongside Emily Michaela Jade Lane-Watson, 30, and Bradley Horlor, 29, at Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Prosecution said it would not proceed with two charges of trafficking in large commercial quantity of a controlled drug against Mr McDougall.

In September, prosecution earlier dropped two counts of trafficking in a large commercial quantity of a controlled drug and two counts of trafficking in a controlled drug.

On Wednesday, Magistrate Justin Wickens said Mr McDougall’s bail conditions had ceased as a result.

The Munno Para West man was earlier accused of being part of an operation that involved the trafficking of large quantities of meth and cocaine.

The court previously heard Mr McDougall was granted home detention bail at his address, which police allege was used by Mr Smith, also of Munno Para West, to store “items” including more than $105,000 worth of meth.

More time was sought for Mr Horlor, of Munno Para, to answer a raft of drug-related charges after further material – including around 70 hours of CCTV footage – had been disclosed.

He is yet to enter a plea to 11 counts of trafficking a controlled drug, one count of trafficking a commercial quantity of a controlled drug and one count of trafficking a large commercial quantity of a controlled drug.

The court has previously heard Mr Smith and Mr Horlor were allegedly in negotiations with “persons known to police” in discussing the sale of 250g of meth.

Mr Horlor, of Munno Para, remains on home detention bail, which was granted last year to support his partner and co-accused, Ms Lane-Watson, also of Munno Para, who was expected to undergo a caesarean birth of their second child. She has not entered pleas.

The matter will return to court later this month.
