A group of teenage girls are causing chaos on a busy Adelaide train, with police now investigating after multiple victims came forward to tell of their horrifying experiences.

One victim, a 17-year-old girl, was on the Seaford line train about 6.15pm on Wednesday night when three young girls aged between 12 and 15 attacked her in the middle carriage.

Her mother, who requested to remain anonymous, headed to the station after her 17-year-old daughter messaged her for help immediately following the attack, and videoed the girls after the train pulled into the station.

However, she believes it will be a “long time” before her daughter can go out on her own again.

“It took us a really long time to actually build her confidence up to be able to catch public transport in the first place,” she told FiveAA on Friday morning.

“She is somebody who has suffered quite a lot of anxiety as a lot of teenagers do.

“She’s been catching public transport to go out and see her boyfriend which is lovely and we were really quite proud of the progress she had made. Unfortunately though, now that this has happened, she’s starting to wonder how that’s going to be something that she can continue in the future. It’s heartbreaking.”

SAPOL is now investigating, reviewing CCTV footage and seeking further information on three alleged attackers.

Another victim, Avari Geschmay, 19, told 9News she believed she was attacked by the same group of girls when she was leaving Seaford train station on Tuesday evening, and alleged she was followed by them and punched in the back of her head by one girl.

“They were following behind me, towards the car, kicking my bag, which had all my electronics,” she said.

“I got in the car (and) one of the girls started punching me in the back of my head.

“I won’t be able to use the train station by myself anymore because anything could happen to me. You don’t think that it’s going to be younger people that would do stuff like that.”

The mother of the 17-year-old victim said the girls punched her daughter, pulled her hair and tried to steal her bag and phone during the alleged assault on Wednesday night.

“Three young girls attacked my daughter on the train,” she said. “I have video of the girls and am making a police report. Your assistance would be appreciated if you saw the incident.

“My daughter was with her boyfriend and these girls liked the look of him. He was stopping them from landing more punches. He was stopping a lot of the blows, but could only do so much.”

The victim messaged her mother to meet her at the platform – who was waiting with her phone in hand ready to film the teenagers.

“I have clear footage of their faces which has been provided to the police. They ran quick smart when they saw I was videoing them.

“The police said that they can be ‘banned’ from riding the train, but they have to catch them first.”

SAPOL confirmed southern district police were investigating Wednesday night’s attack, but couldn’t confirm if the two incidents were linked.

“Just after 6.15pm Wednesday, May 1, a teenage girl was assaulted on the Seaford Line train by a group of girls unknown who attempted to steal her bag and phone. The female victim received minor injuries,” a spokesperson said.

“One suspect was described as being of Aboriginal appearance. All three suspects had long brown hair and were aged between 12 and 15 years of age. One suspect was wearing denim jeans and a light-grey-coloured jumper, while another was wearing light-blue shorts and a white hoodie. The third suspect was wearing black leggings and a black hoodie.

“Police are reviewing CCTV footage.”
