A Mount Gambier man has been charged with sacrilege after he was caught in a local church in the middle of the night.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged with sacrilege after he was allegedly found in a Murray Bridge church with scripture books in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Police were called to the Darling Ave property after a security alarm was activated and CCTV showed a man entering the church about 3.30am.
When they arrived, patrols cordoned off the address and allegedly located the man inside.
Police searched him and he was allegedly found in possession of scripture books belonging to the church.
The man, from Mount Gambier, was arrested and charged with sacrilege.
He was refused bail and will appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.
