Man in court charged after toddler Kyrie Horspool killed in Tyrepower carpark
A young man allegedly driving when a toddler was hit and killed in a tyre shop carpark has faced court for the first time.

A young man allegedly driving a car that struck and killed a toddler in a Tyrepower carpark was not displaying required P-plates in a “road-related area”, court documents allege.
On Thursday, Braydon Rogers, 25, appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court less than 1km from the Elizabeth Tyrepower where the tragedy occurred in May.
Mr Rogers, of Elizabeth North, was charged with three offences after Kyrie Horspool, 2, died when he was struck by a car in the carpark of the tyre shop on Elizabeth Way, in Adelaide’s northern suburbs.
In court, Michael Dzodzos, for Mr Rogers, said he was yet to receive the full brief of evidence and requested two months to allow police time to provide it.
Mr Rogers is yet to plead guilty to one count each of causing death by careless use of a motor vehicle, driving without due care and driving without P plates displayed.
Magistrate Rodney Oates remanded Mr Rogers on continuing bail to face court again in October.
In court, Mr Rogers was silent during the hearing, but thanked Mr Oates as he left the dock,
Outside court, Mr Rogers and his family declined to answer questions from waiting media.
Following Kyrie’s death, Tyrepower general manager Richard Ellery told The Advertiser it was a “tragic time” for everybody involved, and the business owners were doing what they could to support authorities through investigations.
“We (Tyrepower) and the business owners extended our heartfelt condolences to the family for the tragic loss of their beloved child,” Mr Ellery said.
Since the tragedy, the Tyrepower carpark has undergone significant changes, including fresh painted carpark lines and directions along with the addition of speed bumps.
