List of Adelaide locations visited by members of coronavirus infected family continues to grow

A Hindu festival, five supermarkets, three shopping centres and a pool are among 41 SA locations identified by authorities as possible virus contact points.

Worst ever COVID-19 outbreak in South Australia escalates

Members of a family suspected of being infected with coronavirus spent time at more than 40 locations across Adelaide before health authorities were alerted.

A Hindu festival, five supermarkets, two fast food outlets and a public swimming pool are among the possible infection sites identified by SA Health across metropolitan Adelaide.

SA Health on Monday night added 20 more locations or bus routes, bringing the total list of spots linked to the Parafield cluster to 41, including 33 physical locations and 8 bus routes.
Authorities said the locations, which are still being updated as contact tracers uncover fresh information from patient interviews, are where the public could potentially have come into contact with the virus over the past 10 days.

An SA Health spokeswoman urged anyone who is experiencing flu-like symptoms who may have been at these locations on the date and time detailed in public bulletins to undergo immediate testing for COVID-19.

They should closely monitor their conditions and take action if they experience even the mildest of symptoms such as a cough, scratchy throat, runny nose or fatigue.

The list of locations, updated late on Monday night, included the Festival of Lights (Diwali) community gathering at Fulham Gardens, Coles supermarket at Kurralta Park, Foodland at Mawson Lakes, Woolworths at Findon, Big W at Elizabeth, Spotlight at Gepps Cross and McDonalds at Salisbury Downs.

Family members also spent time at Hollywood Plaza last Thursday afternoon, visiting Target and Woolworths.

Other new locations included It’s Convenient on Waymouth St, a convenience store near the medi-hotel where one of the family was a cleaner.

It is believed the woman, aged in her 50s, became infected while working at Peppers before transmitting the virus to her husband and his ageing parents.

They hosted a gathering with other family members while they were infected, spreading the virus.

The gathering was at their home in the northern suburbs, where most of the original 21 sites identified by SA Health are located.

The various members of the extended family then went into the community.

This included visits to the Elizabeth Shopping Centre, The Aquadome at Elizabeth, Coles at Ingle Farm, Harris Scarfe at Elizabeth, Hungry Jacks at Port Adelaide, OTR at Pooraka, Parafield Plaza Supermarket at Parafield and Woolworths at Salisbury Downs.

Other shops or places visited included Indian grocery stores, two medical centres, a pizza bar, a fruit and vegetable shop, a pharmacy and an engineering workshop.

Members of the family also caught buses from the Salisbury Interchange to Mawson Interchange and from the city to Salisbury and the Mawson Interchange.

Pop-up testing stations are operating at Elizabeth, Parafield Gardens, Magill, Daw Park, Port Adelaide and Victoria Park.
