Light-up creatures are on the prowl at Adelaide Zoo this winter.
After a sold-out season last year, Illuminate Adelaide presents its nocturnal adventure – Light Creatures – again this year.
In the interactive performance, visitors will get the chance to meet the zoo’s light-up family including their newest addition, Cahaya, a larger-than-life roaming tiger, as well as returning native and Asian animals.
Chief executive of Zoos SA, Elaine Bensted said the event is an amazing display of South Australian artistic talent.
“Young and old are invited to explore the zoo after dark and encounter animal lanterns of giant panda, Tarutharu the skink, giraffe and a wibbly-wobbly underwater world,” she said.
Cahaya, the 4m-long illuminated mythical tiger, will also be prowling the grounds, operated by puppeteers who have spent time studying the endangered Sumatran tigers to fully understand their movements.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
The Light Creatures’ event will run two evening sessions, at 6.30pm and 7.45pm, on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from July 7 to July 31.
