Eyre machete home invasion terror leaves family living in fear

While his attackers remain on the run, the 16-year-old’s sister said their family could not sleep easily, but a new image hopes to help in the search for the alleged culprits.

Police have released an image of a car as the hunt continues for three people armed with machetes who forced their way into a home and assaulted a 16-year-old occupant.

The victim was slashed across his forehead when three alleged offenders broke into his northern suburbs home at about 2.30am on Thursday, September 27.

Operation Meld officers are conducting an ongoing investigation into the attack and have released an image that they believe can assist with their inquiries.

The blue sedan was seen driving past the premises numerous times, and on a third drive past is seen without lights on.

Police said about five minutes later, three suspects dressed all in black are seen walking towards the property before running from the home in an easterly direction.

It comes after the migrant family of the teenage boy said they do not feel safe while the alleged culprits continue to roam the streets.

The teen was discharged from hospital last week, but speaking to 7News outside of Womens’ and Childrens’ Hospital, sister Charlotte Derrick said they would not sleep easily until arrests were made.

“We came to Australia in order to be safe, in order to start fresh, to start a new life,” the 21-year-old said.

“We don’t know what’s going to happen in the next few hours. Our life is at risk.”

Footage from outside the home showed the figures smashing a window into the family living room, before fleeing down the street less than a minute later.

The victim’s younger sister told reporters she believed her older brother was the intended target of the attack, which allegedly stemmed from a dispute between rival gangs.

The victim is believed to not be part of any gang but used to hang out with some members as friends.
