Here’s everything we know about Dennis Paul Rebbeck.
Early years, education and work
Mr Rebbeck was born in June 1951 and, according to his LinkedIn profile, he attended Adelaide Boys’ High School from 1964 to 1968.
He later graduated with a Bachelor of Business, Business Administration and Management at the University of South Australia.
His profile lists him as the CEO of Eldercare Adelaide for six months in 2001 before starting as a branch manager for OAMPS Insurance Brokers in 2007.
He remained in that position until opening his own brokerage DPR Insurance Brokers in April 2012.
That business was listed as a sponsor for the Adelaide Bowling Club in 2019-2020.
Mr Rebbeck’s LinkedIn profile shows he is still the managing director of DPR Insurance Brokers, however The Advertiser understands he moved on from the business in 2023 for personal reasons.
It is unclear what he has been doing for work leading up to his arrest in July this year.
He is listed as the Insurance Claims and Queries contact for the Rotary District 9790, having previously been part of the Rotary of Euroa in the north-east of Victoria.
It is understood Mr Rebbeck was also known in the South Australian cricket community, having been an umpire in SACA games in the 90s.
Airport arrest
On Sunday July 6, Australian Border Force officers stopped Mr Rebbeck who had just arrived in Adelaide Airport on an international flight.
After searching Mr Rebbeck’s phone, officers allegedly located sexually explicit material on the device.
Those officers then alerted investigators from the elite SA Police and AFP Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team who seized his phone for forensic examination.
Mr Rebbeck has since been charged with one count of procuring a child to engage in sexual activity outside of Australia, which carried a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison. If proven, he has not entered a plea.
According to court records, his alleged offending occurred between December 9 last year and January 3 this year “at North Haven or elsewhere in South Australia”.
Court appearance
Mr Rebbeck faced court on Monday afternoon where his lawyer Andrew Moffa said there would be no application for bail.
Mr Rebbeck will remain in custody until his next court appearance in September.
