A man has died after a horrendous crash in Adelaide’s north that caused significant peak-hour traffic delays.

A 69-year-old man has died after a shocking crash on Thursday morning at Northfield that caused road closures and lengthy traffic delays.
Emergency services were called to Briens Road, Northfield, after reports a car had smashed into a Stobie pole just after 4.30am on Thursday.
The Ingle Farm man, 69, the driver and sole occupant of the silver Ford Focus, died at the scene.
The car was travelling north when it left the road and slamming into the pole, police said.
The man’s death is the 72nd life lost on our roads this year, compared with 43 at the same time last year.
Images from the scene show debris scattered all over the road.
There are road closures in place on Briens Rd, in both directions between Hoods Rd and South Tce, while police remain at the scene.
Major Crash Investigators ask anyone with information, including dashcam footage, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
There were heavy delays on neighbouring Hampstead and Grand Junction roads, during peak our traffic on Thursday morning.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the area and find an alternative route as the road while the road remains closed.
7NEWS reporter Peter Caldicott told FIVEaa it was “just a horrific scene” with debris everywhere and powerlines down.
“Another lady described a horrific sound – it woke her up at 4.30 in the morning, it sounded like shattering glass.”
