Croydon man Paul Heath charged over house fire appears in court

A man has faced court after a vicious house fire ripped through a home in Adelaide’s inner west, causing $300,000 worth of damage.

A man has been charged over a suspicious house fire in Adelaide’s inner west, in the early hours of Tuesday.

The 57-year-old Croydon man, who has been identified as Paul Heath in court, was charged on Tuesday night, after an investigation into the blaze that caused more than $300,000 worth of damage.

The fire broke out inside a home on Day Tce, just before 12.30am on Tuesday with 20 firefighters and police rushing to the scene after the alarm was raised.

Crews arrived to find the house engulfed in flames, but they were able to access the home and contain the fire in half an hour.

The occupants escaped uninjured before fire crews arrived, and the neighbouring properties were not affected.

Mr Heath has been charged with arson and two counts of endanger life.

He faced the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday where he was granted bail.

As part of his bail conditions, Mr Heath has been ordered not to approach the Day Tce property and its residents.
