Cop bitten by woman in violent attack at Woodville Gardens

A young woman has been charged after a police officer was bitten and suffered facial injuries after responding to a family disturbance.

A young woman has been charged after a police officer was taken to hospital after he was bitten and suffered facial injuries after responding to a call to a home.

Police were called to a Humphries Tce, Woodville Gardens address about 12.20am on Wednesday to assist a family disturbance.

While attempting to remove a woman from the home, it is alleged the woman bit an officer on the forearm.

The officer also suffered facial injuries during the struggle.

The officer was taken to hospital for medical treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.

The 23-year-old woman was arrested and charged with assaulting a prescribed emergency worker and resisting arrest.

She will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on November 20.
