Two people have been arrested and charged after a collision that involved a stolen ute and left a man in a critical condition last week.

Emergency services were called to Waterloo Corner Rd after a stolen Holden ute collided with a BMW station wagon and a Hino truck just before 8am on November 30.

The 26-year-old driver of the ute, from Parafield Gardens, was rushed to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Police allege the ute was stolen shortly before the crash.

Local resident Andrew Gameau said he heard several “big smashes” and came out to see a man slumped over the steering wheel of an orange Holden ute.

Major Crash officers investigated the incident and arrested the driver of the BMW later that day as well as another man who allegedly assaulted the Parafield Gardens man while he was inside the stolen ute.

The 29-year-old BMW driver from Paralowie was charged with causing harm by dangerous driving and a 58-year-old Paralowie man was charged with assault.

Both of the arrested men were bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on January 12.
