A grass fire in the state’s Mid North has been downgraded after it sparked an urgent ‘Leave Now’ alert earlier in the day.

The CFS issued a ‘Watch and Act – Leave Now’ message on Monday just before 3.15pm, for Grace Plains, about 75 km north of Adelaide and 7 km south of Owen.

The warning was downgraded to an advice message at 4pm, with authorities saying it was no longer a threat.

“The threat of this fire has reduced, however people are reminded to take care in the area,” the CFS wrote in the message.

“Smoke will reduce visibility in the area and there is a risk of falling trees and branches.”

The CFS said conditions were continually changing with the blaze burning in a north easterly direction towards Owen Rd, Tank Rd, Finch Rd and Davies Rd.
