Prepare to leave warning downgraded for Williamstown as bushfire threatens homes

Residents of a Barossa Valley town have been advised to monitor conditions as a blaze burns 2km south of Williamstown.
It comes after they were earlier told to prepare to leave their homes as the fire threatened homes in the area.
At 1pm the fire was downgraded to Advice level, and the message said lives and property were not at risk.
Fire crews including 49 trucks and eight aircraft are battling a scrub fire burning in a south-easterly direction towards South Para Rd and Woolshed Rd at Williamstown.
SA Police, Forestry SA and Environment and Water Department crews are also on the scene and will remain there until the fire is fully extinguished.
The South Australia Country Fire Service previously issued a prepare to leave warning on social media after 11am on Wednesday.
Smoke is visible in the area including South Para Rd at Williamstown.
“Take action now as this bushfire may threaten your safety,” the message read.
“Check that the path is clear and go to a safer place.
“Do not enter this area as conditions are dangerous.”
CFS warns that conditions are continually changing.
“Homes are not built to withstand these fire conditions, however they can be used as a shelter against heat from the fire,” the warning said.
They advised residents may lose power, water, phone and data connections.
South Para Rd has been closed and others may be put in place.
CFS warned to avoid the area.
