Cars have ploughed into an eastern suburbs primary school and a northern suburbs home less than 24 hours apart in two separate harrowing incidents.
Emergency services were called to Linden Park Primary School – one of the state’s largest public primary schools – just before midday on Sunday, after a car went through a school fence, scraping one of the buildings.
The Advertiser understands a 25-year-old woman was the only person in the vehicle and did not suffer serious injuries.
A neighbour said his wife heard a bang and came out shortly after to see a white Toyota had gone through the fence of the school.
He said the car missed a tree and a school sign but scraped the corner of the building.
“It’s lucky it wasn’t more serious,” he said.
Meanwhile, police are investigating a separate crash at Salisbury Heights on Saturday night, where a car smashed into a house.
Police and emergency services were called to the intersection of Target Hill Road and Stanford Road just after 9pm following reports of a crash.
Police allege a Toyota sedan “had left the road” and collided with a Hyundai hatch before it “impacted a house”.
Occupants of both cars sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital for assessment.
“Thankfully, the house was not damaged, however, the fence will require replacement,” police said.
“The driver of the Toyota, a 21-year-old man from Greenwith, was reported for dangerous driving and issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence.”
“He will be summonsed to court later this year.”
