Three people have been arrested after an early-morning crash allegedly led to the discovery of a gel blaster and expandable baton in the northern suburbs on Friday.

Police said they were called to the intersection of Waterloo Corner and Heaslip roads at Waterloo Corner about 1.20am, after a witness reported a Ford Falcon had collided with a guard rail.

The witness also reported three individuals fleeing the scene, according to police.

When police arrived, they said the car had severe front-end damage and required a tow.

Nearby, they spotted a taxi.

Police said they spoke to the taxi driver, who had been unable to locate his passengers.

They kept a close watch on the taxi, and eventually saw the driver pick up three people that matched the witness’s description.

The officers then stopped the vehicle and spoke to the occupants.

They allege a 21-year-old from Blakeview was driving the crashed Ford.

They also allege he was found with a backpack containing a gel blaster, expandable baton, cannabis and an ice pipe.

He was arrested and charged with multiple offences, including driving without due care, failing to stop at a crash, drive an unregistered, uninsured and defected car, driving without a licence, possessing a firearm and possessing a prohibited weapon.

He remains in custody and is set to appear in Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.

A 24-year-old female passenger from Blakeview was also charged with failing to truly answer questions and carrying an offensive weapon. She was granted bail and will appear in court on April 14.

Another passenger, a 31-year-old from Andrews Farm, was reported for possessing equipment to use with a controlled drug and failing to truly answer questions.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
