A young man who allegedly chased another man through his home with a weapon just after midnight has applied for bail from his hospital bed, after undergoing surgery for injuries sustained during the alleged attack.
Bowen Gregory Milne, 22, appeared in the Christies Beach Magistrates court on Tuesday via video link from Flinders Medical Centre after suffering lacerations to his head and thigh.
It’s alleged Mr Milne was one of four people who knocked on the door of a Morphett Vale man’s home early Saturday morning, then chased him through his hallway wielding a knife, crowbar and machete.
The 27-year-old alleged victim was stabbed in the back and taken to hospital with a perforated lung.
Mr Milne, of Port Noarlunga, is yet to enter any pleas to aggravated serious criminal trespass, attempted murder and aggravated cause harm with intent.
It’s further alleged Mr Milne engaged in text messages with a co-accused, who is still on the run, prior to the attack in which they discussed “getting” the alleged victim “to whack” him. A fourth man is also still yet to be arrested.
Another co-accused, Nikita Peacock, 21, faced court on Monday charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and attempted murder, and was denied bail – with a police prosecutor alleging she filmed the attack on her phone while wearing a pink dressing gown.
“He (the victim) comes to the door and they chase him down the hallway into the kitchen or the laundry,” the prosecutor said.
“He (the victim) arms himself with a knife and he is attacked by three other co-accused and the female in the dressing gown is filming it on her phone.”
Emergency services were called about 12.45am on Saturday morning and, while police were present at the scene, CCTV allegedly captured Mr Milne arriving at Flinders Medical Centre having been dropped off by Ms Peacock, of Christie Downs – still wearing her pink dressing gown.
On Monday, prosecution submitted the incident occurred as a result of Ms Peacock “performing work” at the alleged victim’s house earlier in the week.
“There has been some early assessment of Ms Peacock’s phone and it’s believed there has been an interaction between her … she’s performed some work (at the victim’s) home address during the week. Because of that involvement, that’s where the animosity has risen,” they said.
On Tuesday, Magistrate Kylie Schulz denied Mr Milne’s home detention bail application and remanded him in custody to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in July – alongside Ms Peacock.
