“Every year, for decades and beyond, Len turned on the magic,” said a post on the Len Doof’s Christmas Light Show Salisbury North Facebook page.

“He was a very private man who often just stood out the front of his house not looking at his house shine, but the children’s faces aglow.”

Friends and family remember him as someone who brought magic to the festive season and was “known for his Christmas lights” outside his Salisbury North home.

“It was always a family and friend affair who got together during the month of December,” they wrote.

“Len tinkering in his shed often late into the night and early hours of the morning, finding a milk crate and turning it into a light-up robot.

“His Nan used to sit under the gum tree with a collection tin that lit up with lights.

“His kids running around with their friends growing up knowing Christmas wasn’t just a day but months of preparation.”

Mr Doof was remembered for his creative spirit that enchanted hordes of people from across the state who witnessed his light displays. Many returned every December.

“Len thank you for the music, the lights, the magic and Christmas spirit into all of our lives,” his family and friends wrote.
