A southern suburbs ride-share driver has been caught on dashcam tearing a windscreen wiper off another vehicle in a scary road-rage incident on Wednesday afternoon
The video, posted to Facebook, shows the man come to a stop at an Onkaparinga Heights roundabout before exiting his vehicle and approaching the car behind him.
The Advertiser understands the driver of that vehicle was a 21-year-old female.
He can then be heard swearing at the young woman.
Tania Rhodes, a member of the Aldinga and Surrounds Community Forum, commented on the post, saying the alleged actions of the man were one of the reasons “why women don’t feel safe”.
“It’s these men who show very quickly that they can’t control their own anger and they have no control over their own impulses,” Ms Rhodes said.
“Imagine being half the size of someone and having that rage coming your way like a brick wall.
“I don’t care what led up to this, he’s clearly old enough to be able to understand why this is wrong.”
The Advertiser further understands the incident was sparked three minutes earlier when the female driver merged in front of the Uber driver.
Stills taken from the full dashcam footage, which was also posted to Facebook, include captions claiming the ride-share driver sped up to the young woman and “spat” on her car – before “threatening to punch” the front passenger “multiple times”.
Available footage doesn’t not show any such actions.
An SA Police spokesman said a report had been lodged and an investigation into the incident had started.
“Police are investigating an incident at Main South Rd, Onkaparinga Heights, yesterday where a man damaged a woman’s car,” they said.
“The woman was not injured and the man drove off in a silver Toyota Corolla.”
