Adelaide Hills: Bridgewater Inn launches menu for dogs

Dog friendly is taken to a whole new level at this SA pub, where canine-loving caterers produce exclusive dishes for their four-legged customers.

Forget the water bowl by the door, this Adelaide Hills pub is going above and beyond for its canine customers.

The Bridgewater Inn is now serving an exclusive range of dishes just for dogs and the recently launched menu is already proving a huge success.

Dishes range in price from $2.50 to $8.50 and include crispy pig ear snacks and premium meat and vegetables or salmon and rice as mains. Pooches watching their waistlines can also sip on a number of chilled beverages, including bone broth water and herbal tea.

The Bridgewater Inn marketing manager Tracey Lee said the canine cuisine was the brainchild of head chef Stephen Russell.

“We launched (the menu) a little over a month ago and it’s been going really well; it’s very popular and we get a lot of people coming in specifically for the dog menu,” she said.

“We have a wonderful chef who consulted experts in the field, including a vet and a nutritionist, to make sure the actual dishes are human-grade quality and nutritionally balanced.

“It’s particularly popular in the evening when owners think about feeding their dogs but instead of heading home, they just get a dog dish here and that job is done and the dog is happy.”
