$60m Tudor Vale Shopping Centre breaks ground with Coles and specialty shops
Developers have broken ground on a $60m shopping centre in Adelaide’s north, designed to service 500 new homes being built in one of the region’s largest housing developments.
Developers have broken ground on a new shopping centre to service Adelaide’s booming northern suburbs, after securing Coles and a line-up of food and retail tenants for the $60m project.
Construction of the Tudor Vale Shopping Centre at Munno Para West officially commenced on Friday, and will become home to a full-line Coles supermarket with bakery and deli sections, as well as a Liquorland bottle shop, Terry White pharmacy, St George’s bakery and specialty shops.
It’s set to open by the end of next year.
The development is part of a broader $175m retail precinct within the $400m Tudor Vale residential and commercial project led by DC Developments.
Tudor Vale will feature more than 500 new homes, the 6420sq m shopping centre and a 20,000sq m bulky goods precinct.
DC Developments construction director James Angus said the groundbreaking of the Tudor Vale Shopping Centre marked a significant milestone for the project.
“We are creating a retail and shopping centre that will not only benefit Tudor Vale residents but will be a drawcard and community hub for people living in the rapidly growing northern suburbs,” he said.
“We are delighted with the confidence Coles has demonstrated in the project by investing in a brand new, world class supermarket for this growing area north of Adelaide. We have attracted other valuable tenants and continue to have interest from other potential tenants.”
The shopping centre will offer more than 300 car parks and four electric vehicle charging stations, and Coles customers will have access to an undercover, drive-thru click & collect service.
More than 200 jobs will be created during construction of the shopping centre.
Across the broader development, more than 150 of the 500 planned homes are occupied or under construction, and a further 68 homes will be built by mid-2027. Work is also underway on 4.6ha of parks and public reserves and spaces.
Playford mayor Glenn Docherty said the project would help to create “sustainable growth” in the region.
“This investment provides jobs, new retail offerings and services close to home, in one of South Australia’s fastest growing communities.”
Coles regional manager Annie Worden said the new supermarket would deliver an “enhanced shopping experience” for both in-store and online customers.
“At Coles we are constantly evaluating our store network to ensure we are delivering the best shopping experience for our customers, and we are excited about delivering a new supermarket as part of the Tudor Vale Shopping Centre development.”
