South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania shut its doors to NT travellers amid rising Covid cases

As the number of Covid-19 cases in the Territory grows, there are several border restrictions in place for NT travellers hoping to go interstate.

Amid growing Covid-19 case numbers in the Northern Territory, some states and territories have shut their doors on the NT, dashing travel plans for many. The NT News has done the hard work for you and compiled a list of all the places you can and can’t go. Please note you may still be required to quarantine upon returning to the Territory from a declared hotspot.

Western Australia

Anyone entering Western Australia from the Northern Territory from 4pm on November 16 will be subject to the following conditions:

– Be double dose vaccinated (if eligible)

– Be tested for Covid-19 on arrival (48 hours) and on day 12 of self-quarantine;

– Self-quarantine for 14 days in a suitable premises’ and

– Complete a G2G Pass declaration prior to arrival, stipulating they do not have any Covid-19 symptoms and which jurisdictions they have been in the previous 14 days.

South Australia

People who are not South Australian residents and have been in the Northern Territory since November 10, 2021 (vaccinated or not) are not permitted to enter South Australia.

Queensland

Greater Katherine and Robinson River (including surrounding homelands) are declared Covid-19 hotspots as of November 16, meaning travellers who have been in these areas in the past 14 days are not permitted to enter Queensland.

New South Wales

Permitted to enter, but if you notice any symptoms once you arrive, immediately get tested for Covid-19.

Victoria

Permitted to enter, but if you notice any symptoms once you arrive, immediately get tested for Covid-19.

Tasmania

A number of locations in Katherine, NT have been classed as Level 1 high-risk areas, meaning travellers who have spent time in these locations in the past 14 day are not permitted to enter Tasmania, unless approved as an essential traveller.

Australian Capital Territory

NT travellers who have visited exposure sites (full list here), are permitted to enter the ACT, but must complete an exemption form at least 72 hours prior of their intended arrival. In addition, NT travellers who have visited exposure sites must also quarantine immediately for 14 days, regardless of their test result.

NT travellers who have not visited exposure sites can enter the ACT, regardless of vaccination status.
