See the menu: Patrons set to ‘flock’ to new Toowoomba cafe

Alongside her new cafe, the owner will also be running two existing organisations, all within the same building complex.

It’s a dream of Anne Kerr’s that has been brewing for some time and now her brand new cafe is coming to fruition.

The owner of a charity and disability support business has found a base for her two existing organisations as well as her new venture – The Flamingle Cafe, which will be managed by her daughter Taylor Kerr.

“My daughter is obsessed with flamingoes so that’s how the cafe’s concept all started and now we’re ready for customers to mingle at the flamingle,” Ms Kerr said.

“We’re very quirky people who like to have a laugh and with all the challenges that have happened because of Covid-19, we really wanted this to offer a relief so it’s all just a bit of fun.

“I’ve gone through a lot in my time, so I think life is far too short not to have a laugh.”

The flamingo-themed cafe features pastel shades of pinks and greens and the mother and daughter duo aren’t afraid of a pun or two, with footprints that read ‘please stand 1.5 flocking metres a part.’

In addition to the menu, pre-made cakes and pastries will also be available and the new business will be serving Bear and Beard coffee.

With plenty of menu items to choose from, the new eatery offers ‘flamboyant’ breakfast items, ‘flamazing’ burgers and frozen ‘flocks’.

“Our cafe is a place that welcomes everyone – it’s purpose built, caters to dietary requirements and it’s dog-friendly,” Ms Kerr said.

“Disability carparking spaces are out the front along with express lanes for people who have pre-ordered or just want to grab something and go.”

And while Ms Kerr is excited to open the new cafe, it won’t be her only business calling the Russell St building home.

Her aged care and disability support business Anne’s Angels which has been operating in Toowoomba for a decade, will now have a permanent base for its community hub, situated beside the new cafe.

“When we saw the site was available, we were over the moon – it’s in a central location and so close to Grand Central, public transport and services making it nice and convenient for participants,” Ms Kerr said.

“We’re hoping to also use this space as a place where participants can socialise or do activities of their choosing, whether that be yoga and dancing or art and drumming.”

Featuring six office spaces and a large training room, Ms Kerr’s third business Anne’s Angels Enterprises – a non-for-profit and registered charity, will also operate from the establishment.

Flamingle Cafe at 98 Russell St, is set to open on Saturday.

Trading hours for the cafe are are currently seven days a week from 6.30am while Anne’s Angels and Anne’s Angels Enterprises are open five days a week from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

The business is looking for experienced cafe staff, as well as class instructors and trainers to join its team.
