Crocodile Dundee’s Walkabout Creek Hotel: Pair hurt in kangaroo car crash

A man and a woman were badly injured after their vehicle rolled attempting to avoid a collision with a kangaroo near Crocodile Dundee’s Walkabout Creek Hotel.

Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed a vehicle had rolled at McKinlay on the Landsborough Highway south of Cloncurry at 8am on Tuesday morning.

A QAS spokesman said a male and female were badly hurt and transported in stable conditions to Cloncurry Hospital.

The injuries were not life-threatening, he said.

Queensland Police Service said the highway remained open.

In a separate incident late last year, a motorist was also badly injured after the vehicle they were driving collided with a mob of emus near the Hollywood famous pub in the North-West Queensland Outback.

Townsville Police, meanwhile, confirmed on Tuesday it was investigating a two-vehicle traffic crash involving a cop car at the intersection of Woolcock and Mather streets in Garbutt at 5.15pm on Monday.

“The police vehicle was under lights and sirens at the time,” a QPS spokeswoman said.

“The officer received minor injuries from crash and attended hospital for observation.’

QPS said the driver, a 38-year-old man from Aitkenvale who was driving a Mazda 323, was taken to hospital as a precaution.

It was the second recent accident involving a Townsville Police vehicle involved in an emergency response after a collision on Friday.
