Emergency services face a big clean up on Friday morning with a rubbish truck forced to dump its contents after it caught alight.
The load went up in flames just after 9.30am, with the driver dumping it in front of the Benowa Netball Courts at Benowa Rd and Slatyer Ave, a Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said.
She said the fire was quickly under control, but a bobcat had been called to help break up the waste so it could be completely extinguished.
The clean up effort was ongoing at 11.30am.
The incident caused significant smoke in the area.
Police were assisting with traffic control, a Queensland Police Service spokesman said.
The incident was very close to Bellevue Park State School.
