A shocking 446 Queensland childcare centres are failing national standards with some big name operators making the list along with scores of out of school hours programs and PCYC centres.

Government urged to crackdown on childcare

AN astounding 446 Queensland childcare centres are failing to meet national standards for quality care seven years after the ratings were introduced.

The Courier-Mail can reveal analysis of the ratings for the state’s 2977 childcare centre - which are assessed on ‘quality areas’ including education programs, health and safety and staffing under National Quality Standards - show 446 childcare centres are not making the grade.

A Cairns centre received the worst ‘significant improvement required’ while 445 are ‘working towards’ the National standard.

Among the 446 childcare centres not meeting national standards are Nurseryland Early Childhood Learning Centre at Alderley, Goodstart Early Learning Carina, Milestones Early Learning Dalby, Bambini Early Childhood Development - Caboolture, Little Scribblers Early Learning Centre Southport, Mackay Childcare Centre, plus many after school care hour programs and PCYC centres.
