Residents warned of large fast-moving grassfire at Gieseman Road, Black River

A fast-moving grass fire is burning near Black River, with residents warned to prepare to leave. LATEST.

Two patients have been transported to Townsville University Hospital in stable conditions as the result of an ongoing grass fire on Gieseman Road, Black River.

One patient was treated for heat-related injuries, while another was treated for an alleged fall.

Emergency crews are on scene attempting to control the fire, with fire service aircraft also assisting.

The Queensland Fire Department website has warned residents of Lynam and Black River to be prepared to leave, with the areas between Mill Road, Pope Road, Plumeria Road and Afternoon Ave on the Watch and Act warning level as of 3:49pm on Sunday afternoon.
