Tributes flow for young man killed in ute fall

A well-loved southeast Queensland secondary school student has been remembered by friends and family after he died in hospital days after being involved in an accident west of Brisbane.

A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has died after falling from the back of a ute at the Bowenville Reserve on the weekend.

Highfields State Secondary School student Mac Allen was standing in the tray of a vehicle driven by another 20-year-old man at 12.20am on Sunday morning when he fell onto bitumen, sustaining life threatening injuries.

He was transported to Toowoomba Hospital where he died this morning from his injuries.

Tributes have flowed in for the well-loved student, with a GoFundMe page set up for his family raising $11,800 in a matter of hours. The page had been shared 1700 times.

In a post to Facebook, GoFundMe organiser Andrew Dove said he had been stunned by the community support.

“Mac was such an amazing young man , a passionate skateboarder, a friend to many and respected by more,” Mr Dove wrote.

“I hope he is riding the great skate bowl up there.”

In a tribute post, Mr Dove wrote that the 16-year-old was a “beautiful soul”.

“You gave my daughter love that she will always cherish.”

“You will always be in our hearts,” he wrote.

In another post, Karen Hartley called Allen “a gorgeous friend to all 3 of my children”.

“Mac touched the hearts of so many people in his short 16 years of life,” she wrote.

“I’m so grateful for knowing him.”
