The Wide Bay region is bracing for possible severe thunderstorms, with damaging hail likely in some areas as temperatures across the state continue to soar.
A spokesman from the Bureau of Meteorology said no warnings have been issued yet but would be later in the afternoon as storms started forming.
He said storms were also expected to form in the region on Thursday.
Parts of the region, including Gayndah, Gympie, Kingaroy, Bundaberg and to a lesser extent Hervey Bay and Maryborough.
The spokesman said the storms were likely to be quite isolated over an extensive area.
Damaging hail was also a possibility in some parts, he said.
Thunderstorms were also expected to impact residents in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast on Wednesday.
There is little reprieve from the heat expected for the rest of the week with temperatures forecast to remain in the high 20s and low 30s, although a cool change is expected to move through on Friday, bringing temperatures and humidity down next week.
