Investigations continue after a man was attacked and remains in hospital with wounds following the machete incident in Allenstown.

Investigations are ongoing after a man was attacked with a machete in Allenstown, Rockhampton on December 16.

Initial information indicates an unknown offender approached the victim outside an address on Derby St before allegedly attacking him.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said today Tuesday that the injuries were not be as serious as first thought.

He said the man received minor lacerations to his hand and forearm and was transported to Rockhampton Base Hospital.

The victim is yet to make a formal complaint to police.
The incident was called in to police about 4.55pm when a man, reportedly bleeding from wounds to arms and legs, attended at a doctors’ surgery in Upper Dawson Road.

Police media said a crime scene was established with police investigating a wounding incident.

A Police Media spokesperson said police units arrived on scene and were patrolling the area around the Allenstown Shopping Centre as they search for a suspect.

Police don’t believe the incident occurred at the shopping centre.

The victim is being treated in Rockhampton Hospital for serious injuries.
