Man flown to hospital following North Queensland car crash

A man in his 20s was flown to Townsville Hospital on Monday night following a serious accident in North Queensland.

A man suffered critical injuries after his car collided with a tree in North Queensland on Monday afternoon.

Paramedics responded to the intersection of Flying Fish Point Road and Knorre Hill Road in Innisfail at 4.20pm where they found the driver, 20, trapped in the car.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the driver was extracted and taken to Innisfail Hospital in a critical condition before being flown to Townsville Hospital.

A police spokesman said the road was closed for about four hours until about 8.15pm.
