Cleone McRoberts voted Fraser Coast’s best dance teacher

From Sydney, London and the Royal Academy of Dance, to Paris and Madrid, the incredible story of the woman voted Fraser Coast’s best dance teacher of 2023 will leave you wanting more.

Cleone McRoberts has been voted Best Dance Teacher on the Fraser Coast 2023.

The votes have been tallied, and Cleone McRoberts, founder of the Cleone McRoberts Academy of Dance in Maryborough, has been voted the Fraser Coast’s Best Dance Teacher 2023.

Mrs McRoberts dominated the polls, finishing with 21 per cent of the votes, 10 per cent more than runner-up Nadene Dresens of Little Tutu Dancers & Dresens Ballet School.

First dancing at the age of four, Mrs Roberts’ dance career took her around the world, first moving to Sydney, then to London to attend the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance of which she is a life member, then to Paris and Madrid to dance with the Bluebells.

Returning to Maryborough, Mrs McRoberts founded the Cleone McRoberts Academy of Dance, which this year celebrates its 50th year of operation.

Originally planning to stop at 70, Mrs McRoberts, now 72, has no plans to hang up her pointe shoes just yet, saying, “I do not want to travel Australia in a camper van, I want to teach”.

Uncompromising in her teaching methods, Mrs McRoberts says “it is my way or the doorway” and respects her beloved students as long as they respect their teacher.

In her 50 years of teaching in Maryborough, generations of dancers have stepped foot into her studios and achieved their dancing dreams and as long as Cleone McRoberts continues to teach, many more will too.
