Mum drowns while swimming with daughter at Coolum Beach
A 34-year-old mother who tragically drowned while swimming with her 11-year-old daughter on the Sunshine Coast has been identified. Surfers managed to pull the woman - who was on holidays with her family - from the water but could not save her.

A 34-year-old mother who drowned in rough surf while out for a swim with her 11-year-old daughter at Coolum Beach on Monday morning has been identified.
Natasha Thorpe, 34, from Toowoomba, was identified as the victim this afternoon.
Speaking from the scene off Jubilee Esplanade, police Sergeant Peter Blake said surfers managed to pull Ms Thorpe to shore and began CPR immediately.
Sgt Blake said paramedics took over CPR efforts once they arrived on scene, but Ms Thorpe was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency services were called just after 7am.

Sgt Blake said Ms Thorpe was on holidays from Toowoomba with her entire family and the circumstances were “tragic”.
It is understood the woman’s daughter has left the scene, but the woman’s sister and father remain.
Sgt Blake commended the efforts of the surfers who tried to save the woman.
