Gatton police scored during a search of a Lockyer Valley man’s property, locating a replica handgun and counterfeit bank notes.

A Lockyer Valley man has handed more than $1000 in fines after police located a replica handgun, ammunition and counterfeit money at his property.
Aaron Thomas Phillips, 40, pleaded guilty in Gatton Magistrates Court on June 17 to one count each of possessing explosives, possessing counterfeit money and possessing restricted items.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Natalie Bugden told the court Gatton police conducted a search of Phillips’ property at Glenore Grove on March 17, where they located a replica handgun, a .30-caliber firearm round and $250 in counterfeit notes.
The builder told police both the handgun and money were gifted to him.
Duty lawyer Anastasia Slater told the court her client accepted he shouldn’t have had the items in his possession.
The court was also told Phillips has a history of drugs and weapons offences.
Magistrate Melanie Ho fined Phillips $750 for the weapons offences and $500 for the counterfeit money.
A conviction was recorded.
