Reg Grundy’s widow and the late TV king’s estranged daughter have settled their bitter legal battle over his $900 million fortune.

In 2017 Mr Grundy’s only child Viola La Valette launched a lawsuit disputing the former Wheel of Fortune host’s will which left the bulk of his riches to his second wife, former actor Carolyn Joy Chambers-Grundy.

The women have been locked in a marathon NSW Supreme Court stoush ever since with a man claiming to be the media mogul’s long lost son even joining in the fight for inheritance at one point.

But last week Ms La Valette – who changed her name from Kim Robin Grundy – reached a confidential settlement with her Logie Award-winning stepmother.

Ms La Valette claimed her father suffered from Alzheimer’s disease in the lead up to his death and his partner influenced him to reduce the amount he left her in his 2011 will.

The 92-year-old Neighbours creator died in 2016 and Mrs Chambers-Grundy inherited his multimillion-dollar estate, including their luxury mansion in Bermuda.

The only provision Mr Grundy made for his daughter were annual payments of $250,000.

Ms La Valette didn’t speak to her dad for 22 years before his death, and in his 2010 biography, Mr Grundy wrote that “the loss of my daughter is the greatest heartbreak of my life”.

The entrepreneur became a household name producing a string of soap operas and quiz shows, and he married Mrs Chambers-Grundy in 1971 – four years after he met the young model on the set of I’ve Got A Secret.

In 2019 a former Victorian mayor who looks remarkably like Mr Grundy tried his luck for a slice of the money but in June Simon Thomas Russell’s hopes were shattered after paternity tests came back negative.
