Aspley East State School student Keira Rangi has become first girl to make the Queensland 11-12 years rugby league representative side.
A second rower, Rangi earned selection after starring for the metropolitan north region team which contested the state championships last week.
She will now represent Queensland at the national carnival to be held on the Gold Coast in August.

“It is the first time a girl has made a Queensland 12 years side,’’ said Tony Barron, the co-ordinator of last week’s Queensland School Sport 11-12 years rugby league state championship.
“She did a great job and held her own against the boys in the carnival.’’
Rangi was named the met north’s player of the tournament at the end of the carnival.
Rangi impressed with her work rate and impact carrying the ball both in the middle and wider of the ruck.
The 12 years age group is the last season of mixed league where girls play with boys.
Two Queensland teams were chosen and both will play at the national 12 years championships, August 4-10.
The sides includes seven members of the Metropolitan East team - Jahrel Condon (Marsden SHS), Zac Reader (St Laurence’s College), Memphis Theuerkauf (Alexandra Hills SHS), Emmanuel Asomua (Marsden SHS), RJ Indeiicato (Alexandra Hills SHS) and Te Ara Tamepo-Habib (Marsden SHS) and another seven from the South Coast side which drew with Met East in the grand final last week.
Met West players to make the state teams were Tom Parker (Centenary SHS), Treyvon Pritchard (St Peters Lutheran College, Springfield), Ipswich SHS pair Cooper Cracknell and Ocean Vaivela and Clinton Smith (Raceview SS).
