Once Marsden SHS prop Emmanuel Asomua breached the front line and later St Laurence’s College halfback Zac Reader skipped away, only to be hauled in by Lorenz Sorensen-Eramiha from the Beenleigh SHS.

It was a wonderful try saving tackle by Sorensen-Eramiha.

There was one last throw of the dice from South Coast when Coombabah SHS backrower Dahnte Te Whiu-Hpoa made a half break, but Met East held firm.

With around 10 minutes remaining, South Coast did receive a penalty just metres out, but when they attacked a wide blindside they were swarmed upon by Met East defenders who put them into touch.

Grand final man of the match was Palm Beach Currumbin fullback William Wadwell.

Carnival convener, Tony Barron from St Joseph’s School Beenleigh, said a draw was a fitting result.

“That was perfect, a fitting finish. Those two teams have been the standout teams.’’

He said the atmosphere at the ground was “sensational’’.

“The parents work hard to get their kids here to the football.

“They take it seriously but it is played in great spirit.’’

He thanked the Carina Leagues Club for hosting the event.
