The Tour de Brisbane is back with thousands of cyclists set to cruise handle to wheel through the city this Sunday after the event was postponed from April this year.

More than 30 roads across Brisbane will be closed due to the charity event which has a number of rides from 30km all the way up to 110km.

There are around 7000 riders expected to pedal through Brisbane this weekend to support the Common Good Foundation, which aims help people with late-stage heart and lung disease who need an organ transplant.

The event was postponed earlier in the year but they will be following strict safety protocols and will be able to proceed with the event.

The cycling showcase will also impact public transport networks throughout the day, Acting Head of TransLink Sally Stannard said commuters should check if their journey will be impacted prior to travel.

“This is a world-class cycling challenge and we’re pleased to be doing our part in ensuring this prestigious event continues to be a success, and we need to let public transport and road users know to plan for disruptions during the race,” Ms Stannard said.

“Several major transport routes including the Inner City Bypass, Legacy Way Tunnel, Western Freeway, Centenary Highway and the South East Busway will be closed to allow cyclists to race during the events.

“We ask road and bus users travelling within the impacted areas between 4.30am and 2pm on 11 July to check the impacts to their travel plans.

The race will cause a number of traffic delays across Brisbane with the full list of road closures below.
