Young boy fights for life after being struck by a car at Alawoona St, Redbank Plains

A primary school-aged child has been rushed to the Queensland Children’s Hospital with critical injuries after being hit by a car south of Brisbane.

A young boy was in a stable condition in hospital on Tuesday night after being struck by a car at Ipswich.

The accident happened in Alawoona St, Redbank Plains, about 3.40pm.

An ambulance spokeswoman said a primary-school-aged patient was taken with serious injuries to the Queensland Children’s Hospital.

“A child was taken to hospital with significant head and chest injuries following a vehicle and pedestrian incident,” a QAS spokeswoman said.

“The boy is in critical condition and was rushed to hospital. One critical care paramedic was on board.”
