Wynnum man arrested and charged over Windsor carjacking

A man has been arrested and charged over a terrifying armed carjacking in which a young woman was held at gunpoint.

A man has been arrested and charged after a woman was carjacked at gunpoint and kidnapped at Windsor in Brisbane’s north.

Police allege a 25-year-old Wynnum man approached a 22-year-old woman in a Lutwyche Rod carpark at 10.20pm, October 15.

The man produced a firearm and demanded the keys to her vehicle.

He allegedly entered the victim’s vehicle and drove to a Lawnton address while the victim managed to escape on foot and hide nearby, before reporting the matter to police.

About midday, October 16, police observed the man driving dangerously in the same vehicle.

He was located at a Boronia Heights address on Friday and arrested without incident.

Police have charged him with demanding property with menaces with intent to steal, deprivation of liberty, armed robbery in company and used personal violence, unlawful use of motor vehicles and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

He was refused bail and is due to appear before the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on November 7.
