A woman has been rescued by an emergency helicopter after falling on a Sunshine Coast mountain on Sunday.

A woman has been winched to safety after she fell while hiking on a Sunshine Coast mountain on Sunday afternoon.

The woman, aged in her 60s, was bushwalking near the base of the mountain when she lost her footing on a rocky part of the track and fell around 12.15., sustaining multiple lower limb injuries.

While Ambulance and QFES crews were sent to the scene, the decision was ultimately made to dispatch a rescue helicopter due to difficult terrain.
