A woman has been winched to safety after she fell while hiking on a Sunshine Coast mountain on Sunday afternoon.
The woman, aged in her 60s, was bushwalking near the base of the mountain when she lost her footing on a rocky part of the track and fell around 12.15., sustaining multiple lower limb injuries.
While Ambulance and QFES crews were sent to the scene, the decision was ultimately made to dispatch a rescue helicopter due to difficult terrain.
The RACQ LifeFlight chopper flew to the scene and lowered an Ambulance Flight Paramedic down to the bushwalker, before stabilising her in a rescue basket and winching her to safety.
She was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
