Woman shatters jaw after equipment failure in event at Wickham Hotel in Fortitude Valley
A woman says she is lucky to be alive after sustaining significant facial injuries, including a shattered jaw, after her aerial equipment failed during a performance at the Wickham Hotel.

A woman has sustained significant facial injuries, including a shattered jaw, after her aerial equipment failed during a performance at the Wickham Hotel on Sunday.
Leonie Ceraolo was performing an aerial stunt when her sway pole snapped, causing Ms Ceraolo to fall six metres onto the concrete.
Emergency services were called to the Fortitude Valley hotel at approximately 11.47am after receiving reports of a woman falling from a height.
An Wickham Hotel spokeswoman confirmed an incident took place at the venue on Sunday.
“Our thoughts and well-wishes go out to the individual involved, out of respect for their privacy and to ensure the integrity of the investigative process, we are unable to comment further at this time,” she said.
In posts made to social media, Ms Ceraolo said she was grateful to be alive.
“The sway pole snapped when I was in testing post event. Fell more than six metres high from snapped post on the road of the Wickham. Shattered jaw, broken arm, plus few injuries,” she wrote.
“I’m so grateful I’m still here today. I’m not done yet.”
Ms Ceraolo specialises in aerial acrobatics, showcasing her aerodynamic performances at events throughout the Brisbane region.
It is not clear what event Ms Ceraolo was booked to perform at on Sunday.
Workplace Health and Safety has been contacted for comment.
Ms Ceraolo has put together a GoFundMe campaign to support her recovery.
