A young woman has sustained spinal injuries following a skydiving incident in Queensland’s south on Sunday.

The 25-year-old female is known to be an experienced skydiver, having 30 jumps under her belt prior to the incident, which happened during a solo training jump at about 1.30pm at Toogoolawah over the Brisbane Valley Highway.

The woman was injured due to a hard landing at the Skydive Ramblers drop zone.

Skydive Ramblers Toogoolawah chief instructor Ben Nordkamp commented that “minor errors were made on approach for landing”.

He was very thankful for the fast response of Queensland Ambulance Services who arrived on scene less than ten minutes following the incident.

The woman has since been transported to Ipswich Hospital in a stable condition with reported minor back pain and is awaiting further assessment.

This incident comes just months after another man in his twenties was left fighting for life following a solo skydiving incident in the area that saw him hit an electricity pole on approach.
